I’m a huge movie buff, and as such, I make it my utmost priority to watch at least 1 movie every weekend. I find it soothing and relaxing. But recently, I’ve noticed that AMC, which happens to be a Huge Cinema Theater Chain here in the United States, has started pushing its garbage products very aggressively onto its movie going audience. Every time I’m at the ticket counter, some skinny-ass teenage acne cladded teen always opens his popcorn breath mouth and asks me whether I want to buy their AMC Stubs Card. And every time I have to say NO. It pains me, not just to reject someone, but the fact that AMC is wasting my time, which I could’ve spent more effectively watching the Trailers for Upcoming Movies, thus giving AMC more business. To those who don’t know WTF I’m talking about, AMC Stubs Card is like a reward card that accumulates points every time you buy shit at an AMC Theater .i.e. Movie Tickets, Popcorn, etc… For every dollar you spend, you get 1 point. After spending $100, you get $10 on your card that you can use to buy some more popcorn and movie tickets. It’s a vicious cycle. As if we don’t have enough Corporate Illusionists tricking us into shit we don’t need. On top of that, the card costs $12.
My message to AMC:
If people want to buy your shit, they’ll buy it. You don’t need to force it on your customers.
